About me
My name is John C North, and I'm an independent author who writes with a flair for the fantastical and the brutal! Writing has been a passion of mine for over a decade, starting as an after-school hobby as an attempt to emulate the various movies and anime I've watched. I've been moved by stories that have stuck with me for years, like Naruto, Spider-Man, Percy Jackson, Fullmetal Alchemist, and the one that started it all for me, Dragon Ball. I mostly wrote for fun, with no plans to share and no real attempt at understanding narrative. It was all just a way to have fun with my ideas.
My original plans were to break into filmmaking and bring some of these ideas to life, hence my stint at Georgia State University, where I attained my bachelor's in Film and Media. GSU taught me that I in fact did not wish to create films, but to just breathe life into my stories. So, not only did I delve back into my hobby around the time of my graduation, but I stumbled upon these neat little concepts called narrative and structure. After that, and learning that I could publish a book on my own, my author career took off.

I took the concept of my original line of stories that I started back in high school, repurposed them, wrote the ground work for three primary characters, gave it an ending to strive for, and then bam! Gorgon was born.
The Gorgon Series is a niche, anime-inspired YA fantasy adventure series that follows a pair of reunited sisters as they take on demons, demi-gods, vampires, and the onset of world war. I published the first book, The Crimson Witch in May of 2021, and have re-released editions that included tighter writing and a more consistent style that represents more of the author I am today as opposed to my debut. Since then, I've drafted two of the subsequent books in the series, started writing the fourth, and started the first book of a new, seperate fantasy series that has been in the idea drafts.

In the years of being an indie author I have gained many colleagues and friends. I even met the love of my life through my author career, albeit mostly online thus far. I've learned tons and evolved over the years, and that growth has paid off in the form of my first author award, gained for The Crimson Witch in 2025 as a winner of the Golden Wizard Book Prize!

As far as my non-author life, it's quite simple. I'm a huge fan of anime, movies, TV, books, the whole nine. So, still somewhat being an author I'm afraid, stuying story even when I'm trying to releax. Can't help it. When I'm not writing or studying the craft through media, you may find me eating ramen, exploring Atlanta with my wife, watching American football (Here we go, Steelers!), or occasionally throwing the frisbee with friends. Or, my favorite, talking about stories :) .
